The MHR Program helps children, adolescents and adults who have mental
health needs, which may include feeling sad, nervous, or having behavior
problems. Children and adolescents may be getting into a lot of fights
or not following rules at school or at home, getting bad grades and may
not be able to make or keep friends.
Adults may have a hard
time getting a job, paying bills, shopping, cooking and getting along
with family and friends. Difficulties in all of these areas
must be the result of having mental health needs and a diagnosis by a
mental health professional.

A mental health diagnosis such as major depression, bi-polar disorder, schizophrenia, schizo-affective or a conduct disorder
|
 |
Your illness should be severe enough to keep you from getting along with family members, classmates, or others, maintaining close relationships, doing well in school, keeping a job or living on your own
|
 |
Your illness should not be
temporary or short term. The MHR Program is offered to people
who have a history of dealing with a mental health illness for
at least 3 months (youth) and 6 months (adults). It is best to
first try other interventions such as counseling, school
interventions or attending a mental health clinic. If those
services do not help you get back on track, this program may be
a better way to deal with your problems. |
To get more information about enrolling in the program, talk to
someone at an MHR agency or contact the Medicaid Behavioral Health
Section (MBHS).
